History

I am a personal trainer in an unusual type of fitness business, an unusual type of gym. It was even more unusual when I started it in 2009.  My gym is a soul gym, where you come to work on your whole self, not just your physical body.  And my fitness focus is resilience well-being.

I started this business in 2009 because I needed, and wanted, a well-being practice after several upheavals in my own life.  I looked around and couldn't see what I wanted - a circuit training approach to well-being, something like a regular practice but with lots of choices for building fitness in different areas.

I had dreamed a fledgling idea for a similar concept ten years earlier.  I wrote it up and even did some costings.  But I was a newly self employed training consultant, working long hours, and busy in my personal life too; so I shelved the idea.

The Universe is a tricky customer. My marriage ended, and I got hit soon after by the banking crisis and elder care responsibilities. I suddenly needed the idea I had put aside to help myself!  If you don't listen to the whispers, you will be forced to listen to the shouts.

I am not a therapist or counsellor.  Nor am I an expert in well-being in a mental health intervention role. What I am is an expert in learning, with 35 years in my craft.

I am also a mature woman who has experienced the multiple challenges of living.  Mine include the death of a parent, divorce, ill heath, financial reversals, parental divorce and childhood home domestic violence. I was also a live-in family carer for 14 years, which challenged the ways I could earn a living, and transformed my social life and relationships.

My programmes are not meant to replace a therapist or counsellor.  They are for people like me who want to do what we can for ourselves, alongside any professional help we need to tackle our challenges.  My programmes are to help people build coping muscles, the strength to brace when the unexpected comes, so we can survive to get help.

I hope my tools will help you access the calm, comfort, lift and healing that they did for me.
